PDF files will no longer open on Windows Phone - Can't Open on EDGE

I've researched, cleared caches, and downloaded other PDF readers from the store to no luck ...

Since fixing a MAPS error with a Hard Reset, I've found that I can't open PDFs on my phone anymore. With Windows 10 on my Lumia 650 phone, the default/only way to see PDFs were (add still are) through EDGE.

When I click the file, whether it's on- or off-line, it would appear to proceed and open how it use to but end up saying:

Here is the converted link from an offline PDF file that accompanies the Message above (..the same prefix appears with online PDF files):

ms-appx-web:///assets/errorpages/ErrorPages.html?error=100000#file:///C:/Data/USERS/Public/Documents/EM_2018_schedule.pdf

When I email this and other PDFs to myself or click on PDFs online and open them on my PC, I'm able to see the file through EDGE without problems/error/issue.

Moved from: Microsoft Edge/ PDF, EPUB, and reading/ Windows 10

Thanks for caring (at least). However, even having Adobe installed does not resolve the issue and the statement "in an upcoming release" hints at waiting at least weeks?! Also the workaround is not really usable as PDFs within websites will automatically open in EDGE. At least I did not manage to work around this. Maybe another app works but it is neither straight-forward nor is it understandable that the PDF downloads (you see the number of pages and the progress bar) and once download is completed you get to the "try opening a new tab" error which is pointless.

We will see when this is resolved...

    Hello Jaq,

Thank you for letting us know. You may encounter issues when trying to access PDF files on Microsoft Edge after the latest update on Windows 10 Mobile. We are aware of the issue and our developers are working to resolved it. Rest assured that there will be an update in an upcoming release. In the meantime, we suggest that you download and install any available PDF reader apps from the Store. Make sure that you download or save the PDF file to your phone so you can open it on the PDF reader app.

Let us know if you have any questions.

For people with enough time, I found a work around method to open a PDF in Outlook.

    1. install an external PDF reader, like Foxit, Adobe or any other
    2. in Outlook, open your e-mail, and press and hold 2 seconds on the PDF attachment
    3. choose SAVE
    4. Save the PDF e.g. in your Downloads folder (or Documents)
    5. Open the external PDF reader, and choose your PDF-file to open!

This works for me, on a windows10 phone, Lumia 650.

    Better than the error ;)

But I hope Microsoft will come quickly with a fix, to open the PDF in Edge, with just one tap.
