Xbox One Wireless controller keeps disconnecting

Hello.

I recently bought a Xbox One Wireless controller with the PC wireless adapter.

The problem is... after I logon into Windows 10 the controller connects fine ONE TIME, then, after turning it off and then turning it on again, the controller connects (light stay still) for about 1 or 2 seconds and then the controller turns off again, I even can use it in those 1 or 2 seconds, showing that it successfully connected, but then it disconnects. The problem is only solved after I logoff and login again into Windows (don't need to do a full reboot).

My wired Xbox 360 controller works like a charm. Why do the next gen controller of Microsoft doesn't work well with a system developed by the same company? When I google it, it's problems all around. And judging by the behavior, it's a driver problem, not hardware, cause if it was a defective unit a simple logoff-login wouldn't fix it (and lots of other people wouldn't have similar problems).

Thanks in advance.

I also suffer from a similar issue. Some days my x-box one controller works just fine. Some days it doesn't and standard tricks like rebooting, unplugging and re-plugging don't work.

I have tried two cables. No help.

I have tried turning off Steam. No help.

    I don't have Oculus.

I have AMD/Radeon graphics, not GeForce.

I have just tried the X-Box accessories app, but it's complaining that it can't detect my controller.

I had this issue for a while now and fixed it for about 2 months or so and now it is back. I found several threads with people having the exact same issue caused by Steam and/or Oculus drivers and the Nvidia Wireless Controller Service. I terminated steam and the service and it worked. Now it doesn't although none of the above services/programs are running and I don't have an oculus, so that's not an issue.

I am desperate to get my controller working again, it is really annoying. And it is definitely not an issue with old drivers or the battery, because 3 days ago it worked fine and it is still working after a restart of my computer. But after the restart it disconnects after 20 seconds or so and after that I can only reconnect for 1 sec. With a USB cable it works fine, but I haven't bought the Elite Controller for that. It must have to do with MS Updates, because I deleted the last updates of my NVidia Card and I restored windows to the last restore point before the issue came up again, didn't work.

Please have a look into this :(

This is a known problem but hard to Google an answer. There are forums but I'd like to add to help it get out how to help.

If you start steam with the controller working, turn it off, then it forever disconnects after a few seconds...

    1. Shut down steam from the file menu.... Annoying
    2. Uninstall Nvidia experience... Annoying
    3. Download "Xbox accessories" app from the Microsoft store, plug in the xbone controller by usb, and let it update the controller.

    I like the third.

Same problem here..  Win 10 Pro 1703 build: 15063.413

Xbox one wireless controller with adapter.. The controller keeps disconnecting only if i play a game the only way is using it as corded but is that possible there is any fix for this bug? its like 1 year that i've this problem i tried all.. downgrading to win 7 , win 8 tried win 10 insider nothing fixed that..

Do you have Steam installed? See the post on page four; that was my problem.

If you close Steam, then let the controller connect, you can then re-open Steam.

I'm not sure if setting Steam to control the Xbox controller may be the issue, but it definitely was Steam related for me.
