I used this a soon after the initial KB caused problems. I uninstalled WLM and reinstalled. I now have a fully working edition with version 16.4.3528.0331.

No downloaded email was lost and it also picked up the settings from the original install a couple of years back, so worked the first time I opened.

Up to now I can still download emails from Hotmail and Live without a problem. What will happen when Microsoft convert them to Outlook.com versions remains to be seen.

I have also been looking at Thunderbird, but not yet convinced it is as good as WLM but I am still looking.

Ditto results for me, but I would add three things:

    1.  As I understand it, Thunderbird has to run as IMAP, which will not sync your calendar and contacts.

    2.  When I look at Outlook.com, I see previously deleted emails occasionally from as far back as March of 2015.    They don't show up on WLM.  Crazy!  It makes me wonder if I'm seeing all emails.

    3.  The function, in both WLM and Outlook.com, to mark a sender's address as blocked does not work and it hasn't for a long time.

They (Microsoft) have really screwed things up.  They've been in the business almost longer than anyone but don't seem to be able to develop and retain core competencies!

Hopefully, they will learn from this, but I'm not holding my breath!

    EDITED to add,

Found this today, looks very similar to the Old Faithful Outlook Express. It would appear to work in a similar way, the main drawback being the free version will only allow 2 email addresses, There is a Pro (paid) version that allows unlimited emails. It will also download all folders stored on your PC as did OE.

    Search for OE Classic

    Has anyone tried this

I'm currently trying to get Mozilla Thunderbird to work with my Hotmail.com account, but not having much luck at the moment. My other Hotmail.co.uk account has been picked up nicely by Thunderbird, so working on it!!!!!

The so called update (download) does nothing to correct the issues. The issues remain.

    1. Font changes on headers on launching mail with new emails

     2. Message 'sent to' column STILL shows the recipients name with the account column empty ( I cure this by moving each mail to the junk folder and back again but it creates 2 emails one of which I then delete )

     3. My folders and sub folders  sometimes disappear from time to time, which I am able to make visible again by creating an empty folder with any name and then I delete it (in the same location). This makes the folder re appear normally again !

     4. Emails sent take ages to appear in the sent folder , and don't show in the outbox , they are in limbo somewhere ???

The above issues we all see from a previous post by someone else

All the above items are what many of us are experiencing, and more. Incoming email does not arrive. Have to go to the actual WebMail to see incoming email, and it does not arrive in the LIVE MAIL ACCOUNTS. Question is, is MS or their TECH's reading these issues and what IS MS DOING ABOUT IT? The last two "updates" started these issues and created them. Even after installing the most recent patch/update/download.
