Windows defender keep asking to update every 2nd day....

Hi

windows defender is keep asking to update it every 2nd day, action centre displays the notification about out of date  windows defender, when i open it windows defender completes the update as normally and than the other day it appears again.

any solutions to this??

    1. Run the Windows Update troubleshooter from start to finish: http://support.microsoft.com/mats/windows_update/ [1]
    2. Reboot & test for a day or two then...
    3. Reply to this post & tell me if the "virus protection out of date" alert in Notification Area persists?

    1a )  1.201.1050.0

    1b) yes it offered an update for windows defender (1.201.1153.0) and it was installed successfully.

    1c)  1.201.1153

    1. yes they are on default.

     KB3058515 was installed on 5th july 2015 and KB3059317 [as well as KB3074219] on 3rd july...       

    ...nearly a month after they were released.  [Not good.]

    1a. What Definitions version is currently listed in Defender's Update tab? (Write it down & include it in your answer for #1a)

    1b. If you run a manual check for updates (not via Defender's Update button!), is a Definitions update offered and if so, will it successfully install?

    1c. Assuming an update was offered & successfully installed, what Definitions version is listed in Defender's Update tab now? (Write it down & include it as your answer for #1c)

    1. Is Automatic Updates still turned on & set to Automatic?

    KB3058515 was installed on 5th july 2015 and KB3059317 on 3rd july. and both are now listed in windows update.

    another issue despite the changing windows update setting to default "update spyware protection "popup is showing, it updated itself yesterday. here is screenshot.

    My apologies. You posted two (2) replies in quick succession on the 3rd but I didn't see the first one.

    Assuming KB3058515 & KB3059317 still aren't listed in Installed Updates, are one or both of them listed as failed updates in your Update History?

    Note: The computer should NOT be connected to the internet or any local networks for extended periods (i.e., more than a minute or two) in its current state. All business & personal data (including online banking & credit-card passwords) should be considered at-risk, if not already compromised.
