Hi,

This issue may occur if specific Windows Updates are not installed in the proper order. Microsoft has made a change to prevent further customers from getting into this state.  Customers must now have a pre-requisite update (KB 2883200) installed before being offered these updates.

To restore wireless connectivity:

1.     Uninstall all of the following updates:

·         KB 2887595 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: November 2013

·         KB 2903939 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: December 2013

To uninstall an update, go to the Control Panel and select Programs.  Then, under Programs and Features, select View installed updates.  Select the updates listed above and click Uninstall.  If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.     Install the updates listed below.  When you run Windows Update, the updates will now automatically be installed in the proper order.  You must restart the computer after you apply each update.

·        Install KB 2883200

·        Install KB 2887595 and KB 2903939.

Ugh. Just as I thought. Its now back with the last bit of updates. Great.

Heres to hoping Windows 10 fixes this once and for all.

This issue (and the battery draining while asleep issue) seems to have been resolved for me with the last batch of updates the last week or so. However it has been fixed before and broken again via other updates. So heres to hoping it doesn't break again!

    Anyone else having luck?

I can't help but imagine how good it would be if there was an update which fixed the issue for those of us who have tried every single suggestion in this thread with nothing close to success, aside from never buying anything with a Dell Wireless 1538 in it.

Is there a chance that Windows 10 will fix the problem? What about if I sent this to a Dell centre and asked them to take this disgrace of a wireless card out and put something functional in, would they be able to do that? My tablet's out of warranty but I wouldn't mind paying to have it done if it fixed the problem. Of course, I'm never buying Dell again regardless but I only got the 1 year warranty at the start so despite the fact that it was Dell's or Microsoft's stuff up, I realise I'm the one who has to cop it.
