Dell Venue Pro loses wireless connection after installing Windows Updates

The Dell Venue 8 Pro and Dell Venue 11 Pro lost all wireless connectivity after installing either Windows Update**KB 2887595** or**KB 2903939**.

How can I get my WiFi back?

Hi,

This issue may occur if specific Windows Updates are not installed in the proper order. Microsoft has made a change to prevent further customers from getting into this state.  Customers must now have a pre-requisite update (KB 2883200) installed before being offered these updates. 

To restore wireless connectivity:

1.     Uninstall all of the following updates:

·         KB 2887595 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: November 2013

·         KB 2903939 – Windows RT 8.1, Windows 8.1, and Windows Server 2012 R2 update rollup: December 2013

To uninstall an update, go to the Control Panel and select Programs.  Then, under Programs and Features, select View installed updates.  Select the updates listed above and click Uninstall.  If you’re prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type the password or provide confirmation.

2.     Install the updates listed below.  When you run Windows Update, the updates will now automatically be installed in the proper order.  You must restart the computer after you apply each update.

·        Install KB 2883200. 

·        Install KB 2887595 and KB 2903939.

    WHOEVER THE HECK FROM INDIA IS CALLING ME, NOT UNDERSTANDING MY WELL-ENUNCIATED ENGLISH, THEN HANGING UP-- STOP!!!! IF THIS CRAZY PHONE CALLING CLAIMING TO BE FROM MICROSOFT IS REALLY FROM MICROSOFT, MAKE IT STOP or CALL ME FROM AMERICA.

    Hi,

    What worked for me on my Dell Venue 11 Pro is to disable fast startup. This doesn't make a difference for fast machines with SSD.

    Use your favourite search engine to find "How to disable or enable Fast Startup in Windows 8.1"

    Dear Microsoft guy, I want to throw the updates out of an airplane mid-flight, find the remains, burn them, and then go back in time and do it all again--BEFORE THEY EVER GOT INSTALLED ON MY VENUE. I did the uninstall of the updates when it first happened long ago. It still persists in crapping out. The updates are nowhere to be found. None of the **** any of you say makes any sense and I can't even find 1 out of the 100 things y'all mention. I cannot continue like this. If murderous intentions were the mastermind's intent, then that human has accomplished their goal. Us mere humans are at your whim.

    Thank you for the rant space. No reply needed unless it comes with detailed pictures as instructions instead of the garbled nonsensical "words" that never exist on my screen. And if I see another "Have you tried uninstalling the updates?", I will come through the screen and throat punch that troll.

    I appreciate it.

    However, modifying BIOS/ complementary metal oxide semiconductor (CMOS) settings incorrectly can cause serious problems that may prevent your computer from booting properly. Microsoft cannot guarantee that any problems resulting from the configuring of BIOS/CMOS settings can be solved. Modifications of the settings are at your own risk.
