Windows 8.1 folder black shadow bug in dialog icons/context menu

There's a bug in the Windows 8.1 dialog box and context menu.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Create empty folder
  2. Delete folder, the dialog box will show the folder icon with a black line.

This is also present in the context menu selection, more specifically in the 'send to', icons are surrounded by a black edge. But hovering over them will make the black lines disappear. 

I can perfectly replicate it on 3 machines (2 of which are clean installs of 8.1), other users have also confirmed it. See screenshots below.

I'm using the latest WHQL Nvidia driver if that matters.

    Yep, still present in Windows 10 Preview. At this point it's clear that Microsoft really doesn't care about fixing it.

    It is still there on my side, on both desktop and Surface Pro 2.

    The bug remains there in Windows 10 Preview Build 9860

    Wow, it's even there in Windows 10??

    For me, only these icons now have the black shadow lines:

    The folders are fixed for me.

    This problem still exists. Is Microsoft trying to make us hate Windows 8? Fully updated NVIDIA graphics drivers, Windows 8.1 Update 1, all updates (even non-Windows updates installed) and the problem still exists. Microsoft sucks.

    Hey, sorry for bumping such an old thread. Just realised that this famous bug is now fixed in my case; the folder icons in the delete prompts are now appearing normally again. Haven't done anything to fix this besides installing the latest updates.

    It seems that only audiofile icons still have this weird black line on the side though (in the delete prompts).

    Did it get fixed for you guys as well?
