What exactly does KB2952664 do?

KB2952664 is currently at revision 15 .... each time it comes back I hide it, and each time Microsoft re-issues KB2952664 it gets un-hidden.

Sometimes Microsoft puts it into the Important list, sometimes Microsoft puts it into the Optional list, sometimes it is checked and sometimes it is unchecked .... but never once has Microsoft honored my choice of keeping KB2952664 hidden .... each time Microsoft re-issues KB2952664 they also unhide it (at least in my case that is what happens).

I have no objection of Microsoft re-issuing an update .... my objection is that Microsoft fails to honor my choice of hiding an update .... especially updates that nag me to install Windows 10 and updates that send information about my computer back to Microsoft (without first asking explicit permission to do so).

I'm very lucky because I don't play computer games. ;-)

P.S. I can play piano if I want. But I'm just a beginner.

If only Linux were a viable gaming option.

There was a glimmer of hope that developers would stop using DX a while back. All that talk about

AMD's  Mantel. Fizzed pretty quickly when MS announced DX12 as bringing in a new era for developers though.

It may have made Linux a viable gaming platform.

Yeah! Give up on games and go back to playing guitar. Or just go an hang out at the pub. Both ?

Well, actually, I don't really give a rats if MS is watching, but still reckon they can shove their marketing gimmicks

where the sun don't shine.

I find it ironic that for the past however many years (a long, long time ago) we have been admonished to protect

our PC's from Spyware, and now Monopoly$oft is turning Windows (Win10 by design, and Win7/8 by update stealth),

into grand Spyware/marketing tools. 

Notice the default large size of the Store icon on Win10 Start menu, and the 'shortcuts' to shopping 'experiences' ,

ie- Groove Music, on the Start Menu that cannot be deleted.

Bold faced, shameless marketing.  Handy for parents trying to control their kids consumerism. Not !

I think there is an OS in there somewhere, which could also be handy from time to time.

If I could just pull myself away from Money and Movies & Candy Crush.

Not sure if I have had to repeatedly hide this update or not, but I'll  keep an eye out for it's return

(goofing around in Win10 atm).

I have also hid - KB 2990214 - KB3021917 - KB3035583 - (maybe a couple others yesterday.

Will check when back on Win7)

• Also hid - kb3086255 - because it is a ham fisted fix for what to date has been a non issue

(probably will be in future now that MS has telegraphed it to hackers world wide).

EDIT: Back again - Yep! KB2952664 is back in both recommended and optional updates.

KB3021917 - KB3035583 as well.

At this rate I think I will start using the term Monotonous$oft in preference to  Monopoly$oft.

Not a good time to allow automatic updates, if there ever was.
