When I did a Windows Update this morning, an "unnumbered" update appeared - "Get Windows 10 N". I hid the update, but it will probably un-hide itself when I install the next version of KB2952664 or KB3035583 appears.
What exactly does KB2952664 do?

KB2952664 was published on April 22, 2014 and appears in my Windows Update List (I am running Windows 7 Pro - 64 bit).
The description of this update is vague: "This update helps Microsoft make improvements to the current operating system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows."
Anyone have more information on what this update actually does? If its sole purpose is to ease the "upgrade" from Windows 7 to Windows 8 (or 8.1 or 8.1 update), then I'll just permanently hide KB2952664 (I have no desire or intention to "upgrade" my Windows 7 system to any flavor of Windows 8).
If its purpose is to ease what would be a true Windows 7 upgrade to a yet-to-be-announced Windows 7 SP2, then I'll keep it (but still would like to have more information about what KB2952664 actually does before installing).

2015-10-08T19:13:20+00:00 I had a month of peace without problems and then the "Get Windows 10" app suddenly popped up in the system tray.
There were a couple of other "updates" that arrived at the same time that I googled and identified as telemetry so I just hid those too.
No problems now.

2015-10-08T19:00:27+00:00 Yesterday, I installed KB2952664 for the 19th time. Also KB3035583 (nagware) for the fourth time. I do not hide updates except those that do not install and will not install. I have not yet looked for scheduled tasks that may have been activated. I seem to remember that I inactivated a few tasks earlier, and I need to check my logs to determine what tasks I inactivated and insure that they are still inactive.

Ah ha! Hadn't noticed there were revisions of the same KB. I'd always though the made a new number with
revised updates, but at least it's easier to spot when the number stays the same.
Regardless, it is an indictment on MS that they disregard what they perceive as the minority (as viewed from
their Ivory Tower), and keep pushing their agenda on Windows users.
It seems Monopoly$oft is becoming ever more dictatorial in their attempts to make PC use a mindless adventure
for 'casual' users. Problem is, with each effort they manage to create more confusion, and new issues, not less.
