    Gerry,

I don't want to argue with your or Bear.  I'm just a bit confused.  This thread is 17 pages long and several people have entered it with the same problem as me.  To point, the subject line:

    KD2862330 Fails to Install.

That is what happened to me the morning of 7 November.  Bear came in a few hours ago stating that KB2862330 isn't a part of Windows Update.  Well it is, or was at 3:00 A.M. 7 November, because that is when it attempted to install and if failed repeatedly over and over again until 7:00 a.m.

Have you read known issues with KB2862330. Three scenarios and suggested solutions are discussed in the Article:

Yes.  That is how I finally got it to install in the first place.  Since then I had to restore the PC from a image and now I've tried those same steps over and over again.  Sure the update installs, but when I turn the USB controller back on the installing devices icon starts swirling and the PC crashes.

Without the update everything is fine.  With it the PC crashes.  I think that is relevant to the subject.  If a moderator disagrees then of course the can delete all of my posts in this thread or move them to a new thread.

I simply commented on your statement that 2862330 isn't part of Windows Update...

I said nothing of the kind:

...[if KB2862330] is not currently offered [to your computer] by Windows Update... [emphasis mine]

I have nothing further to add to this discussion.

PS: You weren't the first person to "hijack" this 340-and-counting post thread and I'm sure you won't be the last!

    Greg

Bear is right on one point. You should have started your own thread. You could ask for the thread to be split and the relevant messages put into a new thread. From what I read the issues are real and no doubt others will have had similar experiences and some will still be looking for solutions.

    PA Bear,

I didn't say that you were replying to a post of mine.  I simply commented on your statement that 2862330 isn't part of Windows Update.

    It certainly must be as:

    1. I have Windows
    2. I had Windows configured to automatically update
    3. It did so on 7 Nov
    4. In doing so it attempted to install 2862330
    5. That attempt figuratively (not literally) has since blew up my PC.

Perhaps waking up to find your PC has been in a continuous crash loop for 4 hours is not really "blowing up"  Point taken.

I'm sorry that you consider comments on your replies as hijacking.

I'm not an MVP (been there done that).  I don't have free support and even if I did, I wouldn't waste a free wish on an issue that MS should be fixing.
