Thanks.  You are correct, disabling the webcam trips the PC offline unless it is done in safe mode.  However, when the PC restarts in normal mode it is just re-enabled.

How did you disabled "both" Enhanced Hose Controllers?"  I have the option to disable the second one, but the there is no option to disable the first one.

Are you doing this is Safe Mode?

I've been meaning to reply to this thread with how I successfully installed KB2862330 after getting the blue-screen, but haven't found time.  I saw your question come in by email though, so I'll reply quickly in case it helps you:

I have a Dell Latitude E6400, and was unable to install KB2862330.

I disabled the webcam through Device Manager, right-clicking on it and selecting 'disable'.  _However_ I think that this might have failed as I've a feeling it simply re-enabled/installed itself soon after.  Certainly when I went to re-enable it after the installation of KB2862330 it was already working again.

What I think fixed it, though, was disabling both the 'Enhanced Host Controllers' under USB devices.  Then I allowed KB2852330 to install, and once it was successfully installed I re-enabled the Enhanced Host Controllers.

Coming in late to this thread and trying to make sense of it.  Until this morning I've always had my Windows installation setup to automatically install critical updates.

This leads me to believe that if I was going to have a problem with this update then it should have occurred on October 8th.  It didn't it occurred today, a full month after the update was published.  That in itself is puzzling, but a secondary concern.

Obviously as I'm typing here, I've managed to unscrew this issue to the point that I can now restart my PC.  I've got the update reversed, booted up and changed my update setting from Automatic to Let me know updates are available.

What can I do now?  I have a Dell computer with a wireless mouse and the keyboard that plugs into a USB port.  I've read that one solution is to disable all the USB controllers and then install the update and that "should" re-intall all of the USB controllers.

How do I uninstall all USB controllers when the devices that I need to do that with (i.e., mouse or keyboard) require a USB port?

I do have a Dell and it has a web cam.  I see that one person here at least resolved this problem by disabling the webcam.  What are the steps required to do that?

Is there a windows log somewhere that would tell me which specific device might be causing the PC to crash and reboot at the configuring Windows 32% mark?

Like you, when I disable the Webcam driver the PC crashes.  I've tried the above, or at least my understanding of it, but when the PC restarts in normal mode, the webcam driver is re-installed, I must be missing part of the process.  Thanks.
