Hi,
I just updated to Windows 8.1 last night. All went fine. Once it had finished it booted to windows normally. I then decided to restart the computer just to make sure everything was okay and sorted.
It took me to the normal login screen. My Keyboard and Mouse didn't work?! I check all of my peripherals and non of the USB devices were working. I have tried multiple times to restart and try different USB's to no avail. I have tried a bog standard keyboard and mouse and even a PS2 slot keyboard and non of this has worked.
Any help on what I can do without losing all of my data?

I found a solution that worked for me. If you try this, hopefully it will work!

I have found a solution to the problem via a person from another forum with the same issue. All credit goes to him for finding this out. If you try what he says it should work fine. It did for me

Updated from win 8 pro to win 8.1 pro.
After that my bluetooth Logitech dinovo keyboard and mouse does not Work.
my bios does not have a "XHCI mode" i can disable???

Hi i had the exact same problem like everyone else touch pad and keyboard not working. I went into the bios and diabled ACHI mode. It must be the same as XCHI mode depending on the make of your computer. Anyway once this was disabled the mouse and keyboard working again.

On top of this, it's no longer possible to restore to a previous date, only the last restore point. I was able to restore to the last recovery point which did get my keyboard back. Then the next update had the fix in it. Microsoft has their head in the sand (& elsewhere) on this. Are we all supposed to be rocket scientists? GRRRRRRR...
this is absolute garbage by microsoft, only windows would find a way to not let you use your mouse upon updating and go into advance settings just to use it again, its absolute garbage, its like they don't even test the updates for bugs.
