    Can anyone help? I have Nokia 920 with 8.1 DP installed. I have downloaded Nokia soft.rec.tool and started the download of the package. It downloaded it all...got to 100%...then started all over again!! So I left it and once it got to 630 mb the download just stopped. The bar jumped to 100% but nothing happened. I cancelled and started again...same thing happened at exactly the same point in the download. Can anyone help????

    Which error message do you get? We need that word for word.

    Works here with phones in ‘such a condition’. I get the original Nokia Product Code then, if that package is available.

    Hey Abi99, today I updated the NSRT program and wiped the phone again, but with the SIM in the phone.

    I was able to download the optik tv app now, but oddly the phone took about 30min of being idle and me checking the install page a few times for it to allow me an option to install. kinda weird. The Telus collection is still not showing in the store, but the optik tv app I think is all they offer.

    and a quick recap of everything, sorry for the bad grammar...

    1. had the phone running the original build, telus optik tv app was always available.
    2. installed developer preview, optik tv app still there, everything working great. enjoying the dev preview.
    3. had the phone unlocked, was using it in July with no issues, everything working.
    4. I switched to the LG G2 and was using that as my daily driver... so now the 1020 has no SIM in it and is unlocked
    5. installed NSRT and downloaded current firmware which put me back on WP 8.0, and the optik tv app no longer available
    6. installed dev preview again, applied all updates, still no optik TV app or telus collection shown in the windows phone store
    7. came here made my posts, tried to restore phone again using the tool, restores everything but the optik TV app wasn't available.
    8. inserts SIM back in phone
    9. used NSRT to restore the phone again.
    10. setup everything and restored from a back up.
    11. at first telus optik tv wasn't able to install. waited 30 min or more (not sure) before trying again from a bing search.
    12. success!

    so after all I think that the phone required the SIM to be inserted and be on the network again for a certain amount of time before I could install the app.

    another odd tidbit is that my GF has an unlocked Rogers HTC 8x phone and she has the telus collection in the windows phone store even though it was never available on the carrier. her phone is on WP 8.0 not 8.1

    NSRT reads the handset information based on IMEI and you cannot trick it by flashing a different firmware. It will only show as available the correct firmware version and variant according to the original product code. Since you have created a mismatch between product code and firmware currently on handset, the tool does not offer a software package for download and installation.

    This is not 100% true, I have seen quite a few 920s with firmware swaps, usually ATT 920s (RM-820) switched to firmware for a CV 920 (RM-821) in order ro get an early update (I think it was popular while ATT was dragging their feet on relasing Portico OTA).  It's not super common, but it has been possible in the past to force a firmware switch using NCS and other tools.  Phones in this condition are not able to download a software package for their phone in NSRT, maybe that's where the IMEI/Product Code mismatch come in to play.  Too bad, how does one recovery a phone in this case?

    Mhm. Yes … my mistakes. Could you please share the link to that app here. We need that AppID. Cannot promise anything but perhaps I or somebody else sees something.

    Just to summarize, I got you right:

    1. Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview: app worked
    2. Nokia Software Recovery Tool applied
    3. Windows Phone 8.0 with Lumia Black: app not available for installation
    4. Windows Phone 8.1 with Lumia Cyan: app not available for installation

    Did you install that app while you were with Windows Phone 8.1 Developer Preview or did you install that app before, while you were still at Windows Phone 8.0?

    Did you do that recovery while your Telus SIM was inserted, already?
