Touch screen not working for Asus laptop

Here is what works for me:

Go to Control Panel

Select large icons

Open Human Interface Devices

At bottom of this list are 2 USB Devices

Open them one at a time, they will be shut off, turn them on.

Be sure to do both of them.

Everything is now OK.

They apparently get shut off when you have the wrong settings for the sleep mode, don't exactly

know why or which settings causes this to happen.

After years of waiting, I finally replaced my desktop PC with the ASUS S400CA.  Lovely machine, but the touchscreen stopped working for no apparent reason.  ASUS had me reboot the driver for the monitor, to no effect.  After another 45 minutes of "researching," they suggested I take it back to Best Buy.

I suspect it's a Windows update problem, but after spending ten hours researching, reading forums, updating drivers, calling worthless support, "recovering" the system and then having to reinstall a dozen ASUS updates and 123 Windows updates, not to mention all my programs and e-mail settings, etc., I've realized ASUS was right.

I'm returning it to Best Buy today for a new Mac.  I know the Mac will work, and the time I've wasted on this junk would have been better  spent learning to use a Mac.

I have also tried uninstalling all the updates of that day. Which proved to not help at all. Still the touch-screen doesn't want to work.

I even paid for RadarSync and updated all my drivers. No changes.

I did the search you suggested. I'm not sure what to do with the information though, since I didn't get anything conclusive.. Here are the fruits of my search for more info about this "eminent" multi-touch screen of mine:

1. msinfo32.exe

Under active programmes I found "aspatchtouchpanel64.exe", with "not available" under all info headings (anyways, I guess this one is for the touchpad, not the touchscreen).

Under services I found "Touch Keyboard and Handwriting Panel Service", which was marked Stopped. It lead to a file "svchost.exe -k localsystemnetworkrestricted". No info about manufacturer etc.

2. dxdiag.exe

Under the input tab I have the following.

DirectInput-devices:

Mouse. ("info missing")

Keyboard. ("info missing")

ASUS Wireless Radio Control.  ("info missing")

Input-related devices:

USB-devices-> USB-rotnav (hub).

PS/2-devices-> Keyboard Device Filter. ASUS PS/2 Port Clickpad.

3. Device manager

HID-> HID-compatible device (location: ASUS Wireless Radio Control).

USB-device-> different USB devices (USB hub, USB-rotnavs, intel(R) USB enhanced host controller.

I did have a look through all the previous comments and tried them. My question would be a book long if I listed each and every one in turn.

When reading your input, I was not sure what you meant by (and how to perform) "reverse the controller" under the mouse device.

I have the same problem. After a lot of unhelpful visits to the asus third party service center (fixit, digicom in bangalore) - they have absolutely no idea and are just experimenting on me wasting my time. Asus should have more capable service centers, preferably direct, if they are to succeed in India (big potential if service is right).

I did a factory reset. Now the touch screen works partially.

when I boot up the touch screen doesn't work.  a fn key sequence is required after which the touch screen works for sometime. If the system goes to sleep or standby, the touch screen stops working and I have to do the fn key sequence again. See if this helps you.

1. fn+f8 -> gives second screen options -> chose "Duplicate" using the cursor keys
2. then again , fn+f8, choose "extend"
3. again , fn+f8, choose "pc screen"

voila, the touch screen works ... for some time ... till the system goes to standby or sleep or restart or shutdown

Please let me know if this works,..... need some solution from Microsoft for sure as the touch screen stopped working after some updates.

Let me know if a solution is forthcoming. I did a 'refresh to factory' setting over the last hour hoping it would work but instead the pen and touch tab has not reappeared in control panel nor is the touch screen working at all. This seems to be a much bigger problem than I first envisaged.

 

Luckily for you, Asus has a major presence in India. I bought my laptop from London and am now in Lahore. If it has a major problem I have no way of getting it corrected.
