Touch screen not working for Asus laptop

i have the Asus - 11.6" Touch-Screen Laptop - 4GB Memory - 500GB Hard Drive - Steel Gray and for some reason my touch screen is not working anymore. It worked perfectly  the other day but today it is not. Does anybody know why and what i can do to fix this problem?

p.s. i already tried restarting my laptop and shutting it down.

I had this issue with my VivoBook S400CA touch screen and fixed it today doing the following:

  1. Go to the Control Panel.
  2. Go to Troubleshooting (you may have to search for it)
  3. Click Hardware and Sound
  4. In the Device section, click Hardware and Devices
  5. Have the wizard scan your computer for hardware issues.
  6. Let the computer fix whatever issues you had.

In my case there were 2 USB input devices that were disabled that the wizard enabled for me.  The touchscreen immediately started working.  Hope this helps someone.

UPDATE:

The problem used to come back periodically.  But since updating all of my drivers a while back, the problem has not resurfaced.

    Hi Chris. Thanks for the suggestion, I'd already given it a go but that didnt do a thing. All of the devices are enabled and the drivers are upto date. 

    I ran the troubleshotting option for hardware and devices but that did not help. The wizard simply says "Hardware changes might not have been detected" and displays a warning icon without actually resolving the touch-screen issue. To further exacerbate the problem, the "Pen and Touch" option has altogether disappeared from the Control Panel.

    In a further attempt to perhaps rectify the issue, I performed a clean boot in an attempt to resolve any software conflicts but the problem still remains. I'm not sure what to do. I reinstalled my touchpad driver a few days ago when it stopped functioning due to an earlier conflict with a windows update. Is the touchpad and the touchscreen driver the same because reinstalling it made no difference in this case. 

    If nothing else works, I shall blame the gremlins in the machine.

    Zazi8 have you tried enabling them manually instead? If you go to device manager and scroll down to 'Human Interface Devices'. If you look at the 'USB Input Devices' there might be a few with a down arrow (disabled), right click on these and select 'enable'.

    I have the same exact Asus laptop and same problem.

    It worked fine, then one day in last month it starting not working correctly. I can't even get to charms or new Win 8 desktop without using shortcuts. Any help would be great.

    If we do a refresh will that kill all our added programs including Microsoft Office (if installed post purchase)?

    I have done the 'recalibrate' suggestion, but no change.
