How to remove Duplicate Email from inbox Live Mail.

I have had a number of times now where my computer is running very slow and my windows live is stalling and when the windows live comes back up is starts downloading 1000s of emails over again.

Not only this, but when backing up my mails and importing them after fresh install there are duplicates that come through and then many mails formatting was wrong and I get emails that have funny characters in the copy and several emails combined in each email.

Unfortunately I need to keep even these emails in case they might have some valuable info like login details to one of my accounts or access info to software, etc.

I found a tool that says it can delete these duplicates called Delete Duplicates which says it will assess the mails and filter and delete duplicates in Outlook and Live.

The main issue I have with this is will it delete the wrong email.  Maybe the email it deletes is the good formatted email and it keeps the one that is junk...?

Anyway, here is a link to ask.com with info on the tool.  I have not used it yet, but am considering since I have hundreds of thousands of emails which is a major pain especially when I do a security scan on my computer and it takes hours just running through my emails.

Anybody have any other ideas on this let me know as I would love to clean up my dogon email folders.

there are hundreds or thousand of emails? Downloaded  two , three or five times each? One by one?

Hi, I have just reinstalled Windows 7 on my computer and loaded Windows essentials 2012 for my mails. I had a system crash earlier and could not export my Emails. Hence I had to import the mails from the last backup that I had of the mail folder. Having done that I have ended up with duplicates that were there on the backup and the ones that got freshly downloaded from the server.

Now I have ended up with a lot of duplicate emails that is eating up my space as each of these mails have heavy attachments.

Is there a tool or plug-in from Microsoft which can scan the folders of live mail and give me a list of mails that are duplicate and I could select whether to delete them or not?

Have been working on this problem since September. Have contacted Microsoft numerous times - am told you have no dept. for WLM and told to go to Web for answers. There it gives instructions with Outlook. I do not have  Outlook and cannot afford too buy. No other help.

I have over 43,000 e-mails in my inbox.

? The account [ is that WLM?] is accessed on an email client{ is that Verizon my server/}

After Microsoft taking control of my computer several times and doing it wrong and many times with Verizon, the last Verizon tech suggested deleting  a mail from WLM then checking to see if it was still on Verizon mail as a precaution [have checked Verizon mail to keep mail on that server]. Only then would I be safe to delete all the duplicates.

I want to know how this happened and from what I see on the web Microsoft has been very irresponsible for letting this problem go on for so long.

I doo not understand the connection between Essentials and WLM. Will I lose mail if I reconfigure?

Do I do this before or after cross referencing with Verizon?

Hi Melainie, the problem is this account I have configured correctly but there are lots of duplicate emails that has been created cuz of the database which got corrupted. now everything is working fine but I need to delete the duplicate emails which exist and deleting it manually will take lot of time
