My laptop was working fine last night, however I left it on and unplugged and it died. This morning I am getting an endless loop of 'Your pc ran into a problem and needs to restart. We are just collecting some error info, and then we'll restart for you' 

the message pops up for one second and then the VAIO logo reappears before the blue screen pops back for a second. This just goes on forever with no additional info. I can see an additional line appear on the blue screen every time just as it turns off so it is unreadable.

Help please?

more info: The percentage bar never goes past 0% It just pops up and immediately goes back to the VAIO screen.

Hi Wesley,

This issue could be due to system files corruption, I would suggest you to try performing automatic repair using Windows 8 disc from Windows Recovery Environment (WinRE) and check if it helps.

To perform Automatic repair on Windows 8 computer follow these steps:

a.     Insert the media such as (USB or DVD) and restart your computer.

b.     Press F12 key (typically this is F12, but it can differ between computer manufacturers) and choose the drive that you inserted the installation media into.

c.     Once the Windows Setup window appears, follow these steps:

d.     Click next and select Repair your computer.

e.     You will then see a blue screen and an option to choose. Choose the option Troubleshoot and select advanced options.

f.      You may choose Automatic Repair from Advanced boot option.

Keep us updated on the status of the issue.

    Hi,

    I would suggest you to check if you are able to login to Safe Mode using the following commands.

    Safe Mode starts Windows with a limited set of files and drivers. Startup programs don't run in safe mode, and only the basic drivers needed to start Windows are installed.

    This will help us to find out if the issue is with of system drivers of third party software conflicts.

    Follow these steps to start the computer in safe mode.

    a. Boot from the Windows 8 DVD.

    b. Click on Repair your computer.

    c. Click on Troubleshoot and then select Advanced Options.

    d. Select the option Command prompt.

    e. Once you open Command prompt, enter the following command and press enter.

    Bcdedit /set {bootmgr} displaybootmenu yes

    Once completed, please restart your computer, then press F8 to enter setup screen upon startup, then press F4 or 4 to enter safemode.

    Check if the issue persists, in safe mode.

    If the issue does not persist in safe mode, then perform a clean boot to from safe mode to check if any third party application is causing the issue, as clean boot helps in eliminating software conflicts.

    Note: Once you are done with the troubleshooting, perform the steps in “How to reset the computer to start as usual after troubleshooting with clean boot “to reset computer as usual.

    Got the same issue. First, do something about the message or just say nothing. The message wich is shown is total bullshit and isn't any good information at all! You can't troubleshoot this or anything like that.

    Next step, repair. Isn't fixing the problem. So i have to choose the option to reinstall the OS, meaning losing everything on my laptop. Thats just no solution.

    Whats the real solution? Maybe someone with actual knowledge of Windows could answer and not some scriptreader?

    what can i do if i have no Recovery DVD or Media?

    What can you do now?  E.g. if you can boot to a cmd only state you could try using bcdedit or you could make some implied bcdedit changes by using the Advanced Options boot screen, etc.

    BTW probably best to start your own thread with your own details and get more visibility and control for your problem than you will here in an Answered thread as a Me too! poster.

    i chosen the automatic repair, but the repair from 0% until 7% then the PC restart again..

    and ran in to the same problem again~~

    and also what can i do if i have no Recovery DVD or Media?
