Updates trying to install over and over again (KB2760411, KB2760588, and KB2760583)

These three updates are trying to be reinstalled over and over again.  Replicable on both PCs

The updates are trying to be install over and over again.  Every time I click "check for updates," there it appears again.

Update 1: I have tried restarting the PC.  Nothing.  I have also tried FixIt when trying to troubleshoot Windows Update errors.  Still nothing.  The FixIt simply "runs" till the end and then says "finish."  It did not offer to fix anything.

Windows 7 X64 SP1 with Norton Internet Security 2013 (version 20).

  • You may be repeatedly offered this update even though it is already installed. Microsoft is researching this problem and will post more information in this article when the information becomes available.

Update 5: I did not have to do anything on my part (like re-install updates), so it's probably a detection issue on Microsoft's part.

    They are now recommending to uninstall the updates involved and then hide them in Windows Update.

    Can I get an update when this update is fixed so that I don't go through and endless round of updating?

    For interest if these updates a "greyed" out it does not seem possible to hide them. I guess the only way then is to "uninstall" the "originally" installed same update, and when  it show up again, then to hide them??

    They have now, if you know where to go.  Certainly nothing in their own Forums where thousands of people are going to try and solve the problem! 

    It may be obvious to IT people to check KB pages, not so for the ordinary person.  They end up in such forums, where there is nothing from MS whatsoever.  This is one of their biggest weaknesses.  Other companies would have published on social media (facebook, twitter,...), in forums, blogs, etc... to try and reach the largest audience possible to notify and reassure their clients.  MS has chosen quite differently and I for one think it is a very bad decision on their behalf.  This is exactly the type of thing that drives people to look at alternatives (Mac, Linux, Google, ...)

    One way or another, at this point it is a sit and wait situation.

    Microsoft knows of the problem and is trying to fix it.  Hide them is the only way for the timebeing of fixing the situation.
