Lumia 1020 Camera Won't Hold Focus

When using my 1020, I hold the shutter button halfway down to let it autofocus. It proceeds to do so briefly, but as I push the button, it loses focus and results in blurry photos. The manual focus does a little better. If I tap to focus, I can usually get the focus I want after 10 or so tries. This issue comes up at any focal distance.

Is the camera broken?

Thanks.

I originally got the 1020, and had this problem with the camera, so then i got a new one from the company because i was still within the warranty, that phone was working great and i did not have any problems until now. The camera is doing the same thing and i am getting SUPER frustrated, it wont focus at all now... what do i do? any suggestions.

Having the exact same issue. No focus across any of the camera apps, only close range. As it is consistent across all apps I assume it must be hardware related. Going to take in to store for support. I'll let you know what they say.

I got my Nokia 1020 today and unpacked it.  Guess what.... no focus on the main camera, seems stuck on neer field which is OK for macros and business cards and QR boxes but my house and garden look very blurry.

In my case the focus never changes even with manual adjustment and/or holding the camera button halfway down.

Am I missing something or do I need a replacement like the other guy who then had a camera that worked fine?

    Like some advice

I had my 1020 coming to a month. Beautiful pictures. A Nokia user, 6110, N8, 900 now 1020. I still think that N8 is my benchmark!

so things were working fine till last week, the family went to a theme party, it was a hot and humid day 32 degree C.

it happened! The auto focus became dodgy. I tried hot reset, manual focus, video mode, etc to no avail. Then I touch the lenses, it was searing hot! Due to the weather... I used my kid water bottle as a "heat sink" direct contact with the lens to cool down the camera assembly, it worked ok. Was happily using it outdoor then it happen again... We went into the 3D air con cinema and after it worked wonderfully.

the next day we were outdoors again and I remember to keep my 1020 away from direct sun light and my body heat! No issues.

I remember the 900 would go haywire whenever I placed it standing back to the windscreen while driving on a hot sunny day...

I postulate that the 1020 camera assembly, owing to its tight design and built tolerant, when the material expand due to heat, it renders the mechanism faulty.

    help.

I did not mention in the video that I am fully up to date on all OS and app software.
