After loading and later repairing Windows Essentials I continue to get an error code of 80004001 when starting Photo Gallery,

It comes up right after the initial Photo Gallery screen appears.

I can perform the instructions up to the point of copying and pasting the %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log into the Run command screen.

That only gives me an 'Access is denied' message.

BTW, I see where the WLXPhotoGallery dump file is located but where are the other dump files located after they are generated?

    Hi,

We appreciate your efforts in gathering the CheckSUR.log, however our support specialist are still requesting for the two remaining log files. The data that we could get from that will greatly expedite the process and ensure the completeness and accuracy of our investigation. To do this, please follow the steps below:

    Dump File:

    1. Open WLPG and even if it gives an error, do not close it.
    2. Launch Windows Task Manager and under Processes Tab, locate WLXPhotoGallery.exe.
    3. Right click on WLXPhotoGallery.exe and choose Create Dump File.

CBS.log file: ****1.  Run cmd as administrator  (type cmd at Start search bar, right-click cmd.exe > Run as administrator) in the command window type sfc /scannow and then press Enter.

    1. After it completes, open the Run command screen
    2. Copy and paste this command to collect the CBS.log file: %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log

Once you have the log files ready, please upload them on the private section of this thread.

    Thank you.

    Hi,

Our support specialists are requesting for another types of log files. This will help us to better analyze the root cause of the problem. To do this, please follow the steps below:

First, run WMIDiag. Download the tool from this link. The instructions are included in the compressed file. After doing so, collect the requested logs.

    To collect Dump File:

    1. Open Photo Gallery and even if it gives an error, do not close it.
    2. Launch Windows Task Manager and under Processes Tab, locate WLXPhotoGallery.exe. 3. Right click on WLXPhotoGallery.exe and choose Create Dump File.

    To collect CBS.log file:

    1. Run cmd as administrator  (type cmd at Start search bar, right-click cmd.exe > Run as administrator) in the command window type sfc /scannow and then press Enter.
    2. After it completes, open the Run command screen
    3. Follow the procedures outlined in the article below for the Windows Readiness Tool. This must be executed first before collecting CheckSUR.log file http://support.microsoft.com/kb/947821#method3
    4. After the process has completed, Copy and paste this command to collect the CBS.log file: %windir%\logs\cbs\cbs.log CheckSUR.log

Once you have the log files ready, please upload them on the private section this thread. You must be signed in to Microsoft Community to view the private message.

    Thank you.
