Original Title:USB DEVICS EXCEEDED THE POWER LIMITS OF ITS HUB....POWER SURGE

THE USB DEVICS HAS EXCEEDED THE POWER LIMITS OF ITS HUB....POWER SURGE....this is what the error message that was displayed everytime i put my pendrive...so i did something ,the error message stopped but cant use any pendrive...

when i put a pendrive,getting notifications at some ports...but explorer not opening the device..:(:(..Please help

Hi,

The error also means that there isn't enought power in the USB port where the device is plugged-in. I would suggest connecting the device to another USB port or use a USB hub that supplies it’s own power.

Check if it helps.

Update:

What I had to do was uninstall all USB controllers, restart my computer and then go back to Device Manager and set all my Generic USB ports and USB Root Hub controllers to disallow the computer to turn off the devices to save power by unchecking all four boxes so the message should not appear again. You can complete the latter step by right clicking on all the Generic USB ports and USB Root Hub ports, clicking on properties, clicking on the Power Management tab, and unchecking the box that says "allow this computer to turn off the device to save power". Please note that you will have to uncheck the box for each Generic USB Hub and USB Root Hub port individually to ensure that the message does not return. You may also go to Regedit and follow this path: HKEY_Local_Machine/System/CurrentControlSet/Services/USBCCGP+USBHUB. Under both USBCCGP and USBHUB: Right click and click on New, on the new menu click on DWORD and a New Value field should appear. Now type in this new value field: DisableSelectiveSuspend and hit enter. Finally, click on the newly created DisableSelectiveSuspend field and click Modify; in the Value data box type 1 and press okay. Complete all steps for both USBCCGP and USBHUB.

    The problem with the suggestions.. 

    1. tablets power source cannot be pulled(battery is a permanent)
    2. Deleting the drivers and letting them reinstall doesn't help.
    3. Another issue is that tablets when connecting to a station, such as my Acer is using 3.0 UsB while the tablet source(or actual tablet) is only running 2.0 micro USB

    SO really their is no clear cut fix.

    I have used my hub on my PC, my w3 tablet with never this error message... 

    While it may not be a direct windows 10 problem... maybe an error involved with a fix for the vendors or MS to update the drivers for Win 10...most of the drivers in Win 10 are using Win 8 drivers... and each build or update is changing the OS away from Win 8 drivers.  

    It amazes me, USB has been in existence since the 90's and the issues we have seem like they been since the 90's... instead upgrading hardware version of USB 1.0, 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 on the horizon... need to fix the basic problem on its smart utilization of USB power. THis is an old issue... still needing a new fix.

    Its quite annoying when with each technology release, the bugs still follow.

    Microsoft needs to take a lesson from Google and improve what they have with their OS.

    ya...i recently upgraded my pc...the configuration is af follows

    Intel core I7 processor

    GIGABYTE B75M-D3H Motherboard

    8GB RAM

    2TB+500GB+80GB =Total threeHard disks

    500W SMPS

    After this only i got this proble

    your above solutions didnt help me

    note:

    When i put my data card,i can connect to internet but the REMOVABLE DISK wasnt shown in my computer(which was shown previously ie b4 upgradation of hardware)
