Had the same problem and DiaconuDaniel's solution worked for me as well - took a while to recreate the index but then everything was fine - Thanks

In the last year i've had the same problem with the index. I had to rebuild the index every week to solve the problem. But in the last 2 weeks rebuilding the index doesn't work anymore, it gives me only 5 minutes of idle CPU. PDF files are not the problem in my case. Maybe the latest updates are related? I've disabled the index for now even though i really need it.

It's the same here for me. As a workaround I just disabled indexing completly. I hope Win10 will solve this when it's released in two month.

Remember they are still trying to restore that start menu and aero effects...
