The touch pack is really just some games and apps. A device always needs the correct drivers for the OS to be able to communicate with it. Windows 8's main purpose is for touch support, thus it doesn't need a "touch pack". Seems like we'll have to wait
it out until MS or Gateway/Acer will solve the problem, which doesn't seem too high on their list. What we all know is that it worked with the consumer preview/release preview and it doesn't work with the RTM.
It seems to me that the touch panel should have native support since Windows 8 is all about touch and the touch panel is just another I/O device. That said, the OS should be able to work with it out of the box, like a mouse/keyboard.
