Windows 8 Touch Screen not working on my Gateway ZX6971

I have a Gateway ZX6971 all in one touch screen. I recently downloaded the windows 8 release preview  and i cant find anyway to get my touch screen capabilities working again. Is there a way to fix this problem? I tried reintalling the Card Reader Driver and try to open some touch programs in capability mode. Is there anything I can do to do my touch screen back? It worked fine in Windows 7. Any help or advice would be great! Thank you!

Hi ssackfield88,

This issue may be a display driver issue. I checked Gateway's website for available drivers for the ZX6971 and there are no Windows 8 drivers. Use the contact us link here to see when or if drivers will be available to support Windows 8 on your computer.

    Third business day... still no driver updates on the Gateway support site.

    ALSO... upon loading and installing the Windows Media Center (free from Microsoft for a limited time to Win8 users), I realized that the infrared remote doesn't work either.

    It worked just fine in Windows7.

    Thank goodness I had the foresight to install the Win8 upgrade on a separate partition, and at least now have the option of Win7 boot as it powers up.

    Hi all,

    I did a fresh install of Windows 8 Pro on my Inspiron Duo and now my touch screen is working again!

    Maybe Windows 8 has limited touch features.

    Yes I took tried everything on my side and still no luck with touchscreen on my 6971, everything else is ok.  So I guess its a waiting game for now.
