Arc Touch Mouse Scroll stops working

Hi,

I'm using Win 7 (32 bit) with the MS arc Touch mouse software and drivers installed. Running on HP TX2 Touchsmart Tablet.

I'm facing a problem with my mouse with regards to the scroll function.

After "switching on" the mouse, there is a green led light and everything seems to work. The green LED then disappears, presumably to save battery.

However, after a short period of time, the scroll function will not work at all. There is no scroll "feedback" felt from the scroll strip either. But when I flatten the mouse and turn it back on again, everything works as per normal.

But after some time, the same problem resurfaces. Then, I have to turn the mouse off and back on again. Sometimes, the scroll function "turns" itself back on automatically. But most of the time, it just stops working altogether.

This is very irritating. It seems nobody else have encountered this issue.

Please help!!

Then again, another proof of the problem being on the software side - I have my mouse fully functional after the last Windows 10 update, launching the Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse app and restoring default mouse settings.

Microsoft silently fixed it, though they should've kept us out of the dark ;) Nevertheless, I'm glad the mouse works as it was, no issues so far.

Hi guys I have the same issues on my Arc Mouse Surface Edition that I've had now for almost a year, it's been doing it the whole time. I posted somewhere months ago on another forum. The center scroll feedback stops working and I have to power it off and then back on. Very frustrating!!! And such a shame for such an otherwise cool device.

    Any fix yet MS??????

    All,

My experiment failed. With a setting of level "1" in the "Vibration/Sound" setting in the "Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse" app, scrolling stopped working on Wed 15 Jul at 11:59 am.

I now turned off Vibration/Sound altogether, and will post again once scrolling fails to work again, which I'm pretty confident that it will.

I'm convinced that this is a hardware flaw, as other posters have suggested. It's difficult to believe that a mass-marketed mouse by Microsoft could experience this failure for years, without anyone at Microsoft taking any notice and at least acknowledging the problem.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Richard,

I don't know about the gray Arc Touch Mouse (https://www.microsoft.com/hardware/en-us/p/arc-touch-bluetooth-mouse). I think most of us have the black Arc Touch Mouse, Surface Edition (http://www.microsoftstore.com/store/msusa/en\_US/pdp/Arc-Touch-Mouse-Surface-Edition/productID.286866800).

We've had the same experience as you. Scrolling stops working, unpredictably and generally pretty frequently throughout the day. We've speculated that this could be caused by defective mouse hardware, defective firmware, a buggy mouse driver, or a buggy "Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse" app. Some have noted problems with beta builds of Windows 10, although I've personally only used Windows 8.1 on my Surface Pro 3.

I played with the "Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse" app just now, and can confirm that for the Arc Touch Bluetooth Mouse, Surface Edition, turning Vibration/Sound on or off works, but changing the level on the LOW---------HIGH slider has no effect whatsoever.

It'll be interesting to see what three days of use at level "1" (again, not that setting it to that made any difference in the vibration or sound) will do. Will the scrolling problem continue? I'll definitely follow up and let everyone know on Friday.

    Thanks,

    Steve

    Hi Steve

There is something wrong there then, my experience was as follows:

    • Scroll wheel would work fine for an hour or so but then the scrolling option would stop. Page up and down worked but not scrolling
    • Opened the Arc Touch Mouse and adjusted the Vibration \ Sound option down to level 1 - The volume and vibration reduce to almost none existent
    • Switched mouse off and back on again (flattened then bend), scrolling working again (but it always did after this procedure)
    • Scrolling continues to work fine.

If there is no change in the sound or vibration levels then something isn't working right. To clarify i am also using the grey Arc Touch Mouse
