Hello,

My computer is stuggling to get internet access, I keep getting this message - Your computer appears to be correctly configured, but the device or resource (DNS server) is not responding).  All of the other computers in my house are connected with no difficulty.  Any suggestions?

I resolved the problem.  When my router lost power, somehow the addresses got changed so the IP address of the wireless Dell computer no longer fell in the pool of addresses maintained by the router.  When I reconfigured by router and had released and renewed my IP address on the Dell computer, everything started working again.

    I am having the same problem as the person you have answered.  I have tried both the ways you described.  When I did the commands I had a valid IP address but the DNS is not responding.  Do you have any other suggestions?

    It appears some of these routers stop routing and resolving internal DNS IP's automatically with Windows 7 for some reason.

    Not just W7.   Check out this marathon thread over getting a patch into a Linksys router...

    Even worse symptom but same cause and same workaround.
