Windows 7 Windows Media Player 12 won't update the library when I add an item to the library, additionally when I delete a file from it's containing folder the media player doesn't remove it from the library. Can you help please?

If all these steps suggested above doesnt work close WMP12 stop all running services and try to open : "C:\Users"Your Username" \AppData\Local\Microsoft\Media Player" and delete all the contained files (maybe copy them to another folder for a backup).
Afterwards open WMP 12 press F3 and the library index works how it is supposed to!

Guys, this worked at rebuilding my library but I only needed to force an update, not rebuild the library. I have a podcast and it is important to be able to organize my library by date in order to help decide which music we are going to play that week. Now everything is showing as added on today's date. Is there any way to reverse this? And also anyway to force an update to the library? My problem is new albums and songs were not getting added to my library. I think the problem may have stemmed from deleting some duplicate songs in the library. Thanks in advance.
