I'm having problems with my printer.  If I send a document over to be printed it doesn't print?  There's no jam, the cartridges are full and there's  paper.  Help!

Hi Bob,

Getting a test page out is good start, but there a few thing s you can try to get your printer fully working...

Microsoft provides a Fix It tool which will troubleshoot the printer for you, and might give some useful information on what might be causing an issue:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Troubleshoot-printer-problems

If you are getting prints out it sounds as though there isn't much wrong with the spools service, but keep an eye on it as sometimes a print job can throw the service out. You'll find it in Services.

Also, make sure you have the latest driver for the printer from the manufacturers website. You view what drivers you have already from Print Management, which you can find in Administrative Tools from the Control Panel.

Hope some this helps.

Printer problem- Items sent to print are not printing.

I am having problems with my printer. If I send a document over to be printed it does not print, the cartridges are full and there is paper. What could be the reason that all of a sudden the computer and the printer are not comunicating ?

I requested a test page but it never came up to try. I have an HP Officejet J4580 All-in-One printer

I am having these same issues and I am pretty sure it has to do with Microsoft and all their unending updates. Why do I think this? Because most of the time when my computer runs slow or has other issues, it is right after it has been updated!  So once I return it to a previous restore point, then the issue goes away.  Of course, those updates keep coming back after you take them out!  I have not done a restore with this printer problem, beccause I want to fix it, not avoid it and come back later.

My daughter (who has Vista) can print off of my printer wirelessly..in fact she just set it up a couple days ago, but I can't for the past week! (I have windows 7) Today I got a different error that said the printer was offline!  It was not and to look at the printer it was online, plugged in, etc, ready to go! It is an epson printer and the window pops up that normally shows the print job, but now it only tells me there is an error but not what the error is and no scan I have done brings up what the issue is either!  I have had it with Microsoft!

Has anyone had to deal with this? If so, what fixed for you?
