Warner Music CD's sound is distorted on Dell Windows 7 computer

Had the same problem and was solved by updating the firmware through samsung here

Same problem as everyone else has, and doesn't matter which computer you have, Dell, Sony, Asus, Samsung, Toshiba, etc. There is definitely a correlation between Windows 7, WMP 12, and the Warner Brothers label. As mentioned by another post, the cd's that won't play were purchased from Amazon, and were made in Germany. Actually purchased from Movie Mars through Amazon, and they replaced them, but with the same exact cd and exactly the same problem. I had a tsst combo drive and it would play the cd's but with a lot of static, reduced volume, and skipping. Thought it was the drive and Dell replaced it with a PLDS combo and now the cd's are not recognized by the drive and the tray opens telling me to insert correct media type. My educated guess is the cd's we are all experiencing trouble with are from the early to mid 2000's when Sony tried to make their music cd's protected from ripping. Sony got busted for doing this since their protection was adding code to our computer to disable the copy function on their cd's. I think Warner Brothers was doing it also in a way that didn't invade our computers but still rendered the material non-copyable. I can just about guaranty every person here that the cd's will play on a read only cd player, i.e. most cd's players in cars that are strictly for playback. Basically if you have a cd that plays with the distortion or is not recognized by your drive, you do not have a true music cd per 'redbook' specifications. Return the cd's and get a refund or raise ****. Whether you owned the cd for one day or 6 years, what is the difference, it is not what you paid for. Of course we could submit to being ripped off and buy something that will play the table coaster, but why should we have to. I say begin a calling campaign to Warner Brothers or whoever, send emails, hassle Amazon or the company you purchased the music from. Make the people responsible for our trouble provide the solution, after all they sure took our cash easy enough.

I'll try that I had 3 versions of the same CD and none worked and then Bleach was all fuzzy and a Doors CD even though they all worked on my old computer- so it was so annoying!!
