System Restore does not work and returns the following error 0x80070005:__

"System Restore did not complete successfully, Your computer's files and settings were not changed.

Details;

System Restore could not access a file. This is probably because an anti-virus program is running on the computer . Temporally disable your antivirus program and retry System Restore.

An unspecified error occurred during System Restore, (0x80070005)"

I have turned off my Zone Alarm Extreme Security software, but I get exactly the same answer.

Unfortunately the message does not tell me which file(s) are causing the problem and the error message is so vague I can't try to resolve the issue.

Firstly, I’d suggest you to uninstall the antivirus program and try to perform a system restore and check if that fixes the issue.

If the above steps do not help, try doing a system restore from safe mode and check if that works fine.

    my computer is not working .nall my icons are gone. I do not know where they went. please tell me if there is any way you can repair o restore my computer please

    Check device manager for what gpu's are installed and each driver version; post a pic if you can.

    In settings, personalize, taskbar

    Update or reinstall the gpu ( graphics driver) for the gpu's in your system.

    I've had the same issue - first noticed it in 2016 and it has not worked since, no matter what I do.  No anti-virus/malware programs installed.  I turned Windows Defender off & tried in safe mode and got the same error.  The last time I fooled around with this in November 2017 I did the exact same steps but kept getting a different error.  See the two attachments.

    So when running the restore the intended place where the office program needs to be placed is locked out, error 0x00750005.

    This is not uncommon for win10 as it likes to lock folders to read only, not the folder content.

    One reason I have not installed any MS office products, it was an issue on vista and win8.
