Trying to fix Chkdsk from freezing at stage 5 of 5 when scanning and trying to recover bad sectors and fixing file system errors

About a while ago I ran chkdsk to check and recover bad sectors and fix system files and it then froze at 43% on stage 5 of 5. I left it on through out the night and I went to school and came back it was still at 43%. I then manually shut down the computer and ever since I have been trying to fix the problem. It was the second time I ran chkdsk on this pc while having windows 7 I usually run chkdsk every month or so to make sure everything is functioning right. After my problem occured I have tried so many things i have ran spinrite,I have reinstalled windows, I have tried to run chkdsk on safe mode, I have tried sfc/scannow, and chkdsk /p and all of these things did not fix the problem. Chkdsk /p was the only thing that didnt even try to fix anything because it said invalid parameter. Also when I reinstalled windows 7 on my pc then chkdksk froze at 49% on stage 5 of 5.  I even ran diagnostics from the bios and I use Seagate Seatools and both diagnostics said my hard drive was perfectly fine. I also  tried running chkdsk from the windows 7 cd and for some reason it completed in less than 2 hours. I then ran chkdsk from the pc and it then froze again this made me think that there had to be something wrong with my pc. So I was wondering how can I get chkdsk to complete perfectly from my pc again instead of using the windows 7 cd each time.

    It's at 87% because the bad block or blocks are now near the end of your Windows partition and tells me the bad blocks are not in the unallocated space.

    What needs to be done is to shink that Windows partition a little more to insure the bad block falls in the unallocated space.

    Use MyDrefrag and choose the 'Analyze only' script, select the drive (C:) and click 'Run'. The display is reversed in that the color black near the top of the display is actually free space near the end of the partition (that 87% area). If there are no area's in "Red" near the top of the dispaly but you find files identified in blue or green then I suggest the following:

    Use MyDrefrag and choose the 'Optimize Monthly' script and run it. then see what the dispaly shows, if there is now a large black area at the top we can "Shrink" your Windows partition again.

    Report back with your results, as I have a possible way to get any "Red" (unmovable files) away from the end of the partition if we need to.

    Hey J W Stuart Check Disk froze again and this time it was at 87%. Should I extend the volume now. Also after we fix this problem do you recommend reinstalling Windows 7 to create that system reserved partition?

    That 101MB partition is where the Boot Configuration Data (BCD) store is located, it where the information is stored that Windows need in order to boot. Since you deleted it the BCD store is now part of (located on) the C: partition in a folder named C:\BOOT\

    Now that you have the drive split into two pieces (C: and 'Unalocated) run check disk again on the C: partition and see if you get the same error.

    If you still get the error we now know the bad blocks are located in the C: partition and not in the part identified as 'Unallocated'.

    If check disk runs without any errors then I'll suggest a method of fixing the bad block problem.

    Either way I have tested a couple of possible solutions earlier today.

    When I shrink the volume it looks like this:

                            C:                                                                         Backup Disk

    101 MB             146.77 GB NTFS                      141.42 GB                 9.80 GB

    (Unallocated)     Healthy (System,boot.....)       (Unallocated)              Healthy (Primary Partition)

    Also what is supposed to go inside of the 101 MB partition when it says system reserved.

    Because I remember when I was installing Windows 7 it said system reserved but I deleted by mistake I think it was for more space but I guess I was wrong.
