About a while ago I ran chkdsk to check and recover bad sectors and fix system files and it then froze at 43% on stage 5 of 5. I left it on through out the night and I went to school and came back it was still at 43%. I then manually shut down the computer and ever since I have been trying to fix the problem. It was the second time I ran chkdsk on this pc while having windows 7 I usually run chkdsk every month or so to make sure everything is functioning right. After my problem occured I have tried so many things i have ran spinrite,I have reinstalled windows, I have tried to run chkdsk on safe mode, I have tried sfc/scannow, and chkdsk /p and all of these things did not fix the problem. Chkdsk /p was the only thing that didnt even try to fix anything because it said invalid parameter. Also when I reinstalled windows 7 on my pc then chkdksk froze at 49% on stage 5 of 5. I even ran diagnostics from the bios and I use Seagate Seatools and both diagnostics said my hard drive was perfectly fine. I also tried running chkdsk from the windows 7 cd and for some reason it completed in less than 2 hours. I then ran chkdsk from the pc and it then froze again this made me think that there had to be something wrong with my pc. So I was wondering how can I get chkdsk to complete perfectly from my pc again instead of using the windows 7 cd each time.

First use MyDrefrag and choose the 'Optimize Monthly' script and run it. That clear the top of the display.
The shrink the Windows C: partition as much as it will allow you to. That should increase the size of the 'Unallocated' space.
C: Backup Disk
101 MB XXX.XX GB NTFS XXX.XX GB 9.80 GB
(Unallocated) Healthy (System,boot.....) (Unallocated) Healthy (Primary Partition)
What are the new values for the above.
Now try running check disk and report back.

The red stuff disappeared there is only now yellow and blue "bars" there are a yellow and blue bar in the middle and all the way in the bottom is the rest. Should I go head to shrinking the volume?
Download and install the trial copy of PerfectDisk Home edition:
There is a tab named 'System Files' click on it.
Click 'No' to the first pop up message and click 'Yes' to the 'Boot Time' defrag option.
Reboot your PC and watch the boot time defrag do it's thing.
After Windows has loaded run MyDrefrag and choose the 'Analyze only' script.
Have the 'Red' areas near the top of the display moved down towards the bottom of the display.
If they have and there are no other files (color bands) near the top the you can exit MyDefrag and see how much more you can shrink the C: partition. My guess is we need to shrink about another 15% or about 20 to 25GB to get those bad blocks over to the unallocated space.
Report back as even if the "Red" didn't move there still ways to eliminate some if not all of the red band near the top.

I followed all your steps and when I checked the disk map of my hard drive at the very top there is red and at the bottom there is several parts of red mixed with green and I think a bit of yellow.I havent shrinked the volume more by the ways.What should I do next? Also should I extend or shrink the volume now?
