Either forgot you had a laptop or you didn't mention it.
This makes things a little harder. suggest you read and see if there is anything that appeals to you.
Two concepts:
- Image Backup to an external usb drive and Restore:
This is a long shot as Image Backups are just that an image of your hard drive, so when you restore the imahe any corrupted sectors will just be replaced back and you still may have a problem with check disk.
- Disk cloning (file by file copy of the entire Windows partition) to an external drive, reformating the C:\Windows partition and then recopying all the file back.
Both techniques must be done using a bootable CD/DVD the the cloning software creates (you need to read the user's guide an some guides leave a lot to be desired).
I have used both Ghost 15 and Acronis True Image 2010, both product have their pluses and minuses.
(Will be posting a new series of articles on my web site sometime in the next few days but for a very specific set of circumstances which should not apply to your issue).
