About a while ago I ran chkdsk to check and recover bad sectors and fix system files and it then froze at 43% on stage 5 of 5. I left it on through out the night and I went to school and came back it was still at 43%. I then manually shut down the computer and ever since I have been trying to fix the problem. It was the second time I ran chkdsk on this pc while having windows 7 I usually run chkdsk every month or so to make sure everything is functioning right. After my problem occured I have tried so many things i have ran spinrite,I have reinstalled windows, I have tried to run chkdsk on safe mode, I have tried sfc/scannow, and chkdsk /p and all of these things did not fix the problem. Chkdsk /p was the only thing that didnt even try to fix anything because it said invalid parameter. Also when I reinstalled windows 7 on my pc then chkdksk froze at 49% on stage 5 of 5. I even ran diagnostics from the bios and I use Seagate Seatools and both diagnostics said my hard drive was perfectly fine. I also tried running chkdsk from the windows 7 cd and for some reason it completed in less than 2 hours. I then ran chkdsk from the pc and it then froze again this made me think that there had to be something wrong with my pc. So I was wondering how can I get chkdsk to complete perfectly from my pc again instead of using the windows 7 cd each time.

Can I see a map of your drive how it look now by modifying the example below?

No instead of unallocated space it becomes free space.
Also the 40GB partition I made in disk management looks says Healthy (Logical Drive)...just letting you know.
Also check disk doesnt fail on the 40 GB volume itself. It fails when I extend that 40 Gb to the windows volume.
Do you still have unallocated space after that 40GB volume which check disk fails on?

Hey everything is going fine so far. By the ways you told me to extend the volume little by little and then run check disk. I extended the volume once by 40 GB and ran check disk and it worked nice and smooth. After that I extended the volume by 40 GB more and ran check disk and it froze at 73%. I manually shut off my pc and then went to disk management shrinked the windows volume by 40GB and then from the unallocated space I made a new partition with 40 Gb and ran check disk from the command prompt and when it finished it said something like Windows put bad files or something in the bad sectors folder and fixed the volume bitmap in the bad clusters file there are 4 kb and it corrected errors in the volume bitmap. So i thought the problem was fixed and deleted the 40GB partition and extended the windows partition by 40 GB and ran check disk again and it froze again. Right now I shrinked 40gb of the windows volume and made a new partition with that. What should I do to the 40 GB partition to get rid of the bad sectors?
