Distorted crackling sound when using either 32/64 bit of Windows 7 on Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo V5535 using High Definition Audio Device.

Hi there. I have a problem with sound on my computer. I believe its possibly a bug in Windows 7. Every time I try to play music or watch a video there is some distorted crackling sounds that also come with the audio. I didn't have this problem in XP or Vista. I have tried everything to resolve this problem from reinstalling the sound drivers to changing them to different ones and actually trying different versions of Windows 7 but to no avail. I had no problems with it using the Windows 7 Beta but I do now running the 7600 version. And my lapyop is well capable of running Windows 7 - 2.26Ghz CPU, 2GB Ram, 320MB Graphics card - its very fast. Only problem is sound. I have even tried the Realtek sound drivers for it and I get the same problem - and they are the most recent up-to-date ones.

Please help!!!

Hi there. I've actually got the problem fixed - that is if you have a RealTek sound card. You need to contact them about the problem and they should give you a diagnostic tool. Run the tool and get the info. Then send it back to RealTek. I had such good customer service from them it was all done within Half an hour!! They sent me an updated version of their driver that was in the beta stage but had the modification Turn Off Pull Mode (if that makes any sense) and it works completely fine!! I've even got new features with it too  - special enhancments that can change the pitch of the audio, Karaoke mode, Environment effects and Equaliser. No crackling or distorted sound whatsoever.

Ok everyone. Here is the link they sent me to get the driver files that work. This should sort it all out.

The username is enduser and the password is enduser256

Remember - this only works for Realtek AC'97 and Realtek High Definition Audio Sound Cards.

    @Starling, you sir are a genius.

    I have isolated the problem slightly and it turned out to be one of my onboard NICs (Realtek PCIe GBE Family Controller). I have a Gigabyte motherboard with two ports, one of which is not in use... The DPC Latency checker is one amazing tool, I have been able to get a solid latency (lots of green) once I had disabled the unused NIC.

    I am still getting some spikes, but will hopefully isolate them slowly!

    Hi guys,

    I spend some significant time searching for the solution, so let me summarize that for you.

    Description

    1. During playing music there appear cracks, pops, clicks or gaps.
    2. CPU load is constantly higher and/or is higher during this pops, clicks.
    3. audiodg.exe process takes more CPU time and/or is higher during this pops, clicks.

    Solution

    1. It can be the audiodg.exe/sound card problem. Find the latest drivers for your sound card and install them. Disable advanced audio effects:
      • Right-click the speaker icon in the lower right corner.
      • Select Playback Devices from the menu. A list of devices should appear on the screen.
      • Double-click the device that has a green checkmark. The properties windows for that device should open.
      • Click the Enhancements tab at the top.
      • From the list of enhancements, uncheck all of them, or click the Disable all enhancements checkbox.
      • Click the OK button to save your changes and close the window.
      • Click OK to close the Playback Devices window.
    2. It can be some device that behave incorrectly. To track the device read: http://www.thesycon.de/deu/latency_check.shtml. Download the software and thru the diambling devices u will see who is guilty.

    Configuration (of my PC)

    SONY VAIO VPCS12X9E (laptop, Realtek High Definition Audio, Creative Sound Blaster Live! 24Bit External, Creative Sound Blaster Connect).

    In my case it is Atheros AR8131 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller that causes the higher DPC latency and so the cracks, pops, clicks or gaps. Please let me know if u find some configuration of AR8131 or some new driver that removes the problem.
