Microphone delay when recording in Windows 7

Since upgrading from Vista to Win7, my microphone input has a delay of 500ms to 1s when recording.  This is most notable in apps like Ventrilo.  Anyone else having this problem?

HTOmega Claro+ sound card

E6600 Intel CPU

6 gigs of RAM

Nvidia GTX 280 video card

Hi Everyone,

Please see my earlier replies. No functionality has been removed in Windows 7. If you have an audio driver and codec that exposes the hardware loopback, it will still be present on the Levels tab of the Speakers device. However, not all drivers expose this. If you had this option on XP and load the same audio driver, it should be exposed on Windows 7. Same with the stereo mixer. If the audio driver exposes it, it will be available. It is hidden by default on Vista/Windows 7. But on the Recording tab if you right click in the open area and select show disabled devices, you can enable it. If a Stereo Mix device is not shown, then the audio driver is not exposing one. If you had this option on XP, then please try installing the same driver version that was previously installed.

    Umm...as expect no help at all......Im asking MS not......amatuers for help.................is there even someone looking into this problem???.....Come on Mary and Mike do some support engineering and solve this problem!!........ earn your keep

    Hi there,

    I have the same problem like all of you. I looked through the registry but it looks like this:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\Settings\Drv5832_DevType_0660_SS10431783

    I don't find anything else, no diable things or so :(

    I can finally monitor myself in realtime, but I have yet to test if the recording will work in realtime.  This is how I enabled it:

    Since I have a SoundMAX AD1981 Chipset in my laptop, my registry entry for the Mic settings look like this:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\ControlSet001\Control\Class{4D36E96C-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}\0000\AD1981\Disable

    There are 2 entries, MicV and MonR that are both set to 01.  I set them both to 00 and rebooted. I can now hear myself with no lag.

    Once I try recording myself in Sonar, I'll tell y'all what happened.
