Microphone delay when recording in Windows 7

Since upgrading from Vista to Win7, my microphone input has a delay of 500ms to 1s when recording.  This is most notable in apps like Ventrilo.  Anyone else having this problem?

HTOmega Claro+ sound card

E6600 Intel CPU

6 gigs of RAM

Nvidia GTX 280 video card

Hi Everyone,

Please see my earlier replies. No functionality has been removed in Windows 7. If you have an audio driver and codec that exposes the hardware loopback, it will still be present on the Levels tab of the Speakers device. However, not all drivers expose this. If you had this option on XP and load the same audio driver, it should be exposed on Windows 7. Same with the stereo mixer. If the audio driver exposes it, it will be available. It is hidden by default on Vista/Windows 7. But on the Recording tab if you right click in the open area and select show disabled devices, you can enable it. If a Stereo Mix device is not shown, then the audio driver is not exposing one. If you had this option on XP, then please try installing the same driver version that was previously installed.

    hey - XM-

    nah,. not in these folders --

    The key that i am talking about (DisableMicInFromRender), prevents the mic volume option to be displayed under the default playback devise (speaker in most cases)

    all we are doing is chaging the binary - 0000 01 to 0000 00  (true to false) so that it is displayed. These are not folders but the value of keys.

     - whats the make of your PC and sound card -- i will get back to you if i find something!!!

    AHA! I could not find a Speaker folder but I did find this under my 0001 folder.

    Under 0001\Global Settings\Devices I have a bunch of folders:

    DigitalInput

    DigitalOutput

    FrontInput

    RearInputLineIn

    RearInputMic

    RearLineOut

    Is there anything in these folders that I can edit like you mentioned? I'm looking through some of the files but so far I don't see anything that looks like the "0000 01" you mentioned.

    ok;..

    try looking for the "settings" then  "filter" option in a different folder just below/above the folder "0000" -

    for my system - i got the  global settings and spdifin / spdifout in the 0007 folder,
