a. Was it working fine earlier?

b. Do you remember making any recent changes to your computer?

Back up the registry**http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows7/Back-up-the-registry**

  1. Go to start and type regedit.exe.
  2. Navigate to HKEY_USERS.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard.
  3. You'll see an entry on the right called InitialKeyboardIndicators. The "usual" default value is 0. Double click on this entry and change the value to 2.
  4. Close registry editor.

Restart the computer. The issue should be fixed by now.

    My value was 2147483648, is that bad or do i just need to change it?

    THANK YOU for this little program. The regedits never did anything for me. I have been trying to fix this issue on Windows 8 for a couple years now and this worked. Frustration over!

    Changing the value to "2147483650" worked for me too.  Running Windows 10 with a Lenovo Ideacentre 300 descktop and an old Microsoft Digital Media Pro Keyboard (that I have not installed the specific software for.)  

    Now that you can log on with a 4 digit digital PIN seems like NUM Lock is more needed than ever.

    It looks like NumLocker is what I need.  It is so frustrating to use the Keypad, only to have nothing happen or the cursor jumping around.
