my num lock keeps shutting itself off by itself can i stop this

Thanks BClarkDRG. So glad you were thoughtful enough to post what turned out to be the solution to my woes! I reduced the number of SendKey macros from about 20 to 5. No probs with NumLock now.

2. Navigate to HKEY_USERS.Default\Control Panel\Keyboard.
3. You'll see an entry on the right called InitialKeyboardIndicators. The "usual" default value is 0. Double click on this entry and change the value to 2.
4. Close registry editor.

Restart the computer. The issue should be fixed by now.

I have an Acer that keeps doing this.  I started to follow this procedure, but my initial_keyboard_indicators value is not set to zero.  It is set to 2147483648.  What am I changing if I change that value to 2?

I have windows 10 that has this problem. I follow instruction here but my value wasn't 0 it was 2147483648. So I left it alone.

The above "Fix" doesn't work. In searching the internet this is a very common problem as far back as Window 7.

The above "Fix" only helps when logging in.  It does not work later on when you start using applications.

In Access if you use the "SendKey" command/function it turns the NUM LOCK off every time. I don't know what causes it in the other applications.

I had a laptop running Window 7 and never had a problem; while everyone in the our office complains about it. Even those running Windows 7.  My laptop is dying and I have just purchased a new computer running Windows 10 on a docking station with an external keyboard; now I am suffering through it.

Oh please help. The new computer is so wonderful, and this really takes that all away.

Desperate
