There are several issues that can cause this and other problems that lead to the Appcrash error. There is another post that has several steps to troubleshoot the issue, try those steps and see if they help.

Greetings,
I had Vista 64 and now upgraded to Windows 7 64bit. 80% of my games crash on load.
As other I have googled the shiznit out of this, it seems most people crash some time into a game, I crash without the thing loading at all.
My setup.

Qx9770 (I run clocked and not clocked, all modes crash)
Asus Striker II Extreme motherboard

Windows 7 (64 bit)

Number of Logical Video Cards: 2 (SLI and NO SLI, still crash)

These games run off Steam mainly but also games not in steam crash.
Fallout 3
Halfllife 2
Ghostbusters
JadeEmpire
MassEffect
Mirror's Edge various others.
Surprisingly Crysis works, Company of heroes also.

all drivers and Win up to date and intergrity check is fine. Installation new by Steam.
its definitely not a ram problem.
and "click the " app can handle >2gb address space"" is checkmarked anyways, also for the game's exe

2012-07-05T05:44:50+00:00 My computer has 16gb of ram and it still crashes. So, for me, this is not the fix. This is 2 years late. But, I first am getting this problem.

If I go to the DX website, it tells me I have the latest DX.
I tried to install the DX9 install, the install lasted 1 second and said it was complete.

2010-02-01T20:56:11+00:00 Try reinstalling DirectX, since the DLL file it's pointing to is replated to directx. The file may have gotten corrupted or damaged somehow.
