Cd won't rip using Windows Media Player in windows 7

I just got Windows 7 a few weeks ago and have had no trouble until now to rip cds.

It now however shows "windows media player cannot rip one or more tracks from the cd"

I have gone into TOOLS - OPTIONS - DEVICES - DRIVE , clicked Use error connection (both playback and rip are defaulted to digital) No change

I have gone to RIP MUSIC tab and tried to slide the Audio Quality bar and/or change the rip format, but when I do I get "the settings for ripping music could not be suppied" and they reset to original settings.

I have gone into Registry Editor and deleted the low rate MP3 encoding rate and still no change - it just keeps giving me the "windows media player cannot rip one or more tracks from the cd".

any ideas??????????

Open WMP

Go into Tools - Options - Rip Music and see if you have a location the music is being ripped to. I didn't when I looked, it was blank.

then go to Organise - Manage Libraries - Music, there should be a music folder location here, if there isn't press "add" and add the music folder.

Now do the same for the other 3 libraries, Videos, Pictures and Recorded tv, all should have locations, delete the ones without a location.

try to rip again.

hopefully like me you will be off and running again.

I'm using Windows 7. I followed your instructions to CD/DVD and selected Advanced. I was not given an option check for "use error correction." Any other ideas? Thanks

I took me a while to figure it out, at least my problem. I generally save only to an SD card or external hard drive; it extends intervals between reformatting, simplifies back up and restoration, and adds mobility as well as security. My CD ripper will only save to my on board hard drive. It drives me nuts, but to use WMP or Itunes I have to load down my hard drive.

I've tried everything including this and it did not work for me. I just can't figure out how to "add" a location for Ripped CDs to go. The location is now showing blank (nothing) and I know it has to have a location but the software will NOT allow me to add a location??????????????????????????

Hi - my name is Lee and I have tried everything that I have read in this thread so far and NOTHING, ABSOLUTELY NOTHING has worked for me. I'm running Windows 7 Home Premium so I'm really at a loss. My last attmept was to go to the link you provided (see below) and this didn't work for me either. Isn't there another way to define a location for ripping? Im at a total loss ;-(
