How to change monitor 1 for monitor 2

I am experiencing the same issue now. I did follow the instructions on how to make screen one the main screen and this did work; however, it did not change monitor 2 to 1 as stated by matthewwagner. The problem this is now creating for me is that, to drag something to my second monitor which is labeled 'monitor 1' I have to drag it to the left of my primary screen. (Note my secondary monitor labeled 'monitor 1' is to the right of my primary monitor which is labeled 'monitor 2') I had two monitors in the past and I am assuming I just got lucky that windows labeled them correctly. 

Does anyone know if there is any way to change the labeling? Would uninstalling the video card and/or buying a new video card solve this? I really need the computer on the right of my desk to be monitor number 2 so I can drag things from left to right and right to left rather than scrolling around backwards as it is set up now.

You can better use a Winkey + P , which will launch you the projector options. In that choose Projector only , your new 37 HDTV will work as a display for your PC. Ping me if it has any conflicts.

This doesn't solve the problem and neither does the reply labeled "answer". This makes it so the displays are no longer expanded. What I need is for the secondary monitor connected to my laptop to be labeled as monitor 1, and the one that's built in to my laptop to be labeled as monitor 2 (opposite what they are by default). It's not a simple concept that is displayed in the control panel easily but surely someone understands the problem. And, no, I don't want to change which monitor is the "main display" monitor, I need the number labels to be changed. This may be something that requires going into some obscure system file.

The only thing you should have to do to quickly fix any of these issues with windows identifying monitors with a certain id or number is simply swap the cables on the back of your pc, laptop, or docking station (whichever you are using). That is the easiest way to change how windows sees which monitor has which monitor id or number. 

Just go on the back of your docking station, usb hub, or desktop and switch the cables. Let's say you have monitor "1" (which is physically on the right side of the desk) plugged into hdmi port 2 on the dock or video card and you have monitor "2" (which is physically on the left side of the desk) plugged into hdmi port 1 on the video card. Just switch monitor "1" so it's plugged into hdmi port 1 instead of hdmi 2 and then plug monitor "2" into hdmi port 2 instead of hdmi 1. Or maybe it's DVI or display port or any combination of these. It really doesn't matter. The point is you just need to switch around which ports each monitor is physically attached to on the video card or dock in order for windows to label and identify them differently.

We've all tried this already, it doesnt work.  Which is why we're all frustrated.

It does not matter which monitor is 1 or 2. You can drag them to change

which is on left or right in the setup/settings. And either can be the main

display.

The issue you are having with the CC Center is exactly why I suggested

the methods I did in my last reply (to reset them).

In your case check with ATI/AMD Support and their forums about that

CCC issue which is theirs to resolve and not something in Windows.

No no no no no.  You still don't get it, yes it does matter which one is 1 or 2 or 3 for programs.  For your initial desktop which you are thinking of, it doesn't matter.  You can just swap left or right as needed. 

However, certain programs open to, use, or default specifically to monitor 1 regardless of where you have it placed.  So if monitor 1 is your TV and monitor 2 is your desktop, some programs will open to your tv, and you have to drag them over to  your desktop monitor to do your work.  Things like that, which are really annoying, is why people are complaining you can't change the number of the monitor.
