How to change monitor 1 for monitor 2

All you're doing is changing where icons are placed and where some applications auto-open. You're not actually changing which monitor is 1 and which is 2. That's what needs to be fixed.

As I've been messing with all of this, another thing I've found to be odd is that within my AMD Catalyst Control Center for my video card, I do have control of the numbering. I can change which monitor is 1, 2, and 3 and then rearrange them however I want with those numbers staying there. But Windows doesn't respect those settings. I open AMD CCC and it shows that everything is set up the way I want it, but Windows doesn't seem to care about the graphics card settings.

This question matters for me because I have 3 monitors. Two monitors in a dual setup, the third is a TV. Yet, Windows decided to label the TV as 2 and the monitors as 1 and 3. Even if I only have the monitors connected they're still 1 and 3.

If I use a Windows theme for dual-monitor (there don't seem to be any triple monitor themes that I could easily find, though even if there were it wouldn't wrap correctly) Windows automatically extends the desktop background over monitors 1 and 2. 3 gets an entirely different image. I need 1 and 2 to be my main monitors and 3 to be the TV. But right now the TV is 2, which means my background is messed up.

Moving the position of the monitors in the setup only controls which monitor is "next" when I move the mouse from one to another. It doesn't control the 1, 2, 3 numbering or affect background placement.

Some programs use the label identity name to determine which monitor is the primary monitor.

Now that I answered you inquiry you can answer the question? Clearly you know or you wouldn't have bothered,  right? No?

If you don't now the answer to the question then don't bother. The person asking the question has a reason, and it doesn't matter for the question. Heck, maybe they're just OCD? would that matter?

Please start your own thread and include the System Maker (Motherboard Maker for

custom systems) and the Video card/device maker. Help us to help you.

On many you can Right Click the Destop - Graphics Porperties - and assign either

device as Monitor 1 (Primary device) or Monitor 2 (Secondary device).

Check with the System Maker and the video card/device maker's support and forums.
