Ok - This morning I opened Edge (w10) and when I clicked the X to close, it would not close. I tried to minimise and click close, still would not work. I can only close it via task manager or rebooting. Nothing has chnaged since last night, so no idea why it has happened. Is there a simple answer as in apps both uninstall and modify are grayed out.
The PC is mine, not a work one and is W10.

PS - Just tried with my w10 laptop, am able to close edge as normal. So have no idea why the desktop is playing up. Is there a solution?

It was the graphics card setting ...which strongly indicates to me it's probably a virus stealing graphics card time to mine crypto on our systems.

Thank you Larry Rich1! The visual explanation really helped. After I turned it all off and restarted, voila!! I can close microsoft edge without going to the taskbar!
I hope Microsoft is working on a fix for this pain they created!
This unfortunately did not work for me, I am still having the issue. I hope this gets fixed soon.
