Edge will not close - any help please?

Ok - This morning I opened Edge (w10) and when I clicked the X to close, it would not close. I tried to minimise and click close, still would not work. I can only close it via task manager or rebooting. Nothing has chnaged since last night, so no idea why it has happened. Is there a simple answer as in apps both uninstall and modify are grayed out.

The PC is mine, not a work one and is W10.

PS - Just tried with my w10 laptop, am able to close edge as normal. So have no idea why the desktop is playing up. Is there a solution?

    Dealing with the same issue. Task manager is the only way I've found to close out of edge, I believe this just started happening today, so maybe something related to a recent update? Hopefully this issue is fixed soon. Otherwise I'm switching to a different browser.

    I downloaded a PDF and opened it and it opened with Edge. I never use Edge otherwise. I couldn't close the one tab. I was able to create a new tab and closed the first. It's just that Edge won't close the last tab. So the browse is functional, it just doesn't want to close the window. Task Manager works but it's just another reason I find Edge annoying and unfriendly.

    Hello, I had the same issue with Edge so I went into settings>apps>apps and features and scrolled down to Microsoft Edge and clicked. Box opened and then I clicked repair, which uninstalled and reinstalled Edge. I then opened it and clicked the red X at the top to close it and it is now working perfectly!

    Hi Larry,

    Thank you for posting these settings, this worked! I've been having the same issue as everyone else and its driving me nuts. Only Ctrl + alt + Del was the only way to get rid of it.
