New Microsoft Edge wont play HDR videos in YouTube

As the title describes, I cannot play/ see HDR YouTube videos - the option is not available any more from the resolution selection.

With previous Edge (prior to 15/01/2020) I could and I could also choose a higher resolution from my screen's native one.

I would like to point out also, that neither Chrome and Firefox provide such option - I really cannot understand why but my issue here is with Edge.

Yes, my screen is HDR capable.

I would highly appreciate any help into solving this matter.

    I believe the figure you see beside viewport shows the text-scaling amount that windows/tv/handset has applied. You are still seeing 3840x2160 pixels of video.

    I cannot say for sure as I am not in front of your monitor: it seems that the range of brightness/peaks (white) is disregarding the HDR/PQ curves supplied by the source material, an error with windows/browser and not your ROG display.

    If skies, spotlights, sun reflections and water do not look natural/realistic to you, this will be a good indicator of whether the reproduction of video/HDR info is succesful.

    yes chrome normal can display 'HDR'  BUT NOT IN 4K!  as you see below only BETA VERSION 'CROME' AND EDGE do it, i dont use any other browser

    I hope they resolve the issues with YT HDR  ASAP and not take "a good few years..." and they know better with **HDR Gaming (**Xbox Series X...etc,) just around the corner...?

    Nah, that aint it. I'm already a YT Premium customer.

    Windows is notorious for how bad it displays HDR content (even though the WIN10 app Films & TV works great). Netflix own app works great too. I've heard (anecdotally) how going from HDR games and tabbing to Windows can make a mess of colours displaying accurately.

    Its like Windows 10 is delayed in timeline/development the same as with high resolution displays/monitors. It took a good few years to get to the decent enough quality of text scaling/rendering (across apps too). 4K screens were not well utilised in early Win10 gradually getting better major release on major release; here's hoping the same happens with wide colour gamut and HDR across all apps.

    It's possible Chrome or YT engineers have seen the dumpster fire of HDR in WIN10 and thought better not to bother with navigating at the moment.

    The most up to date powerful browsers (Edge,Chrome,Firefox,Opera...etc) are unable to show/render Youtube HDR? 

    What's their problem ? is Microsoft working on the issue/problem Yes or No ?

    What about Youtube Premium?
