New Microsoft Edge wont play HDR videos in YouTube

As the title describes, I cannot play/ see HDR YouTube videos - the option is not available any more from the resolution selection.

With previous Edge (prior to 15/01/2020) I could and I could also choose a higher resolution from my screen's native one.

I would like to point out also, that neither Chrome and Firefox provide such option - I really cannot understand why but my issue here is with Edge.

Yes, my screen is HDR capable.

I would highly appreciate any help into solving this matter.

In less than 24 hours 94 people including myself have pressed have the same problem. I've enabled all Edge flags mentioned in this year long thread. I even bought the $1 HEVC Codec from the Mstore. Windows display settings show HDR enabled everywhere. My external monitor shows HDR on the inputs. Youtube just won't show HDR in Edge.

that used to be the case, I knew that one, but they changed it again. no i have alreADY stated what i do to get what i want and for things to work for me.

Tried the flags, blown out and doesnt bump up the brightness as old edge used to on Surface Book 2.

NB phil; if you CTRL +/- when on youtube with the "stats for nerds" pop-up, you will see the viewport adjusting on the fly (UI and text changing), with the video resolution remaining the same. For example, I use 150% scaling on Windows on 4k screen, so my viewport shows 2560x1440p * 1.50 which equals 3840x2160p.

Whilst HDR maybe supported (using chrome://flags, edge://flags or in Chrome BETA), any use of these on my end has caused the HDR image to be reproduced poorly (in that the video is blown out).

i cant follow what you say.  just note what i showed is chrome normal version only up to 1080p but does use HDR in yt videos

2 chrome BETA version supports 4k HDR -8k videos too,  as does Microsoft edge
