How to make links open in a new tab in Edge Chromium

Hi, does anyone know how to make links clicked open in a new tab, rather than in the existing tab, in the new Microsoft Edge Chromium, please?

    It's annoying having to use a special key combination or right-click menu choice for something we want 99.9% of the time. I sent feedback to the Edge developer team requesting an option to make left click open in a new tab by default and let Ctrl-Left click open in the active tab instead. I suggest others do the same using the Send feedback button on the toolbar.

    I have found out what the issue is, in the meantime. Microsoft Edge will by default open the page in a new tab, actually, as long as the application whose link is clicked is in the same virtual desktop. It is only when the application (e.g., e-mail reader) is in a different virtual desktop that a new browser window will be spawned -- in that very same virtual desktop. So it is actually not an issue with Microsoft Edge, but rather with Task View.

    Same thing here. I just got a new Android phone, and now if I follow a link in my email client it opens a new window, and clicking additional links in email opens in the same window. I'm sure some people would prefer this, but I want a new tab for each one. There should be a setting to create a default behavior for either option. 

    If it helps to understand my request, here's why. I read an email newsletter each morning with multiple links to news stories. On my previous phone, each link would open a new tab in Edge. That way I could open all the stories that interested me, finish reading my email, and then go read all the stories. Now I have to go back and forth - or do a workaround to open separate tabs. 

    I am using the stock Samsung email client on the new phone where I used a 3rd party app on the old one. But that shouldn't matter if this a default setting was available in Edge.

    A simple click will take the context specified in the link so if the website owner specified this link to be opened in a new tab it will regardless but if he/she didnt then it will open in the current window.

    As far as i know there is no way to change that.
