How to prevent Microsoft Start page from coming up when I click on a news article in the New Tab page?

Starting today (1/4/2022), whenever I click on a news article in the New Tab page, the Microsoft Start page is displayed instead. How do I stop that from happening?

    Edge is redirecting me also.....but if I go directly to aol.com or yahoo.com I can at lease navigate th news.

    Glad to know I'm not the only one having this issue. Thought it was my computer or that I had picked up a bug. No wonder my son won't use anything but Apple

    Not helpful Carlo. I wonder if there is anyway to convince MicroSoft to hire some staff who understand system testing?
