Preparing for Insider Preview Builds of Windows 11 - ***UPDATED 6/28***

@EddieL If Microsoft ends up enforcing the processor list then the situation will become similar to Windows Vista. Windows 11 will just become a repeat of Windows Vista with majority of users sticking to Windows 10.

I am on a i5-6200U and in no way I am upgrading. Modern laptops in my budget don't come with a CD/DVD drive

I read the minimum requirements

I got everything and all the latest drivers along secure boot and tpm

idk it's still saying minimum requirments do not meet

i was like what the heck is wrong

But they haven't mentioned any 4th , 5th, 6th or 7th gen CPUs in their compatibility list

Generation is a soft floor requirement.

There are new minimum hardware requirements for Windows 11. In order to run Windows 11, devices must meet the following specifications. Devices that do not meet the hard floor cannot be upgraded to Windows 11, and devices that meet the soft floor will receive a notification that upgrade is not advised.

Hard Floor:

• CPU: Core >= 2 and Speed >= 1 GHz
• System Memory: TotalPhysicalRam >= 4 GB
• Storage: 64 GB
• Security: TPM Version >= 1.2 and SecureBootCapable = True
• Smode: Smode is false, or Smode is true and C_ossku in (0x65, 0x64, 0x63, 0x6D, 0x6F, 0x73, 0x74, 0x71)

Soft Floor:

• Security: TPMVersion >= 2.0
• CPU Generation

My BIOS / Motherboard has not TPM (Trusted Platform Module) to be enable !

TPM 1.2 or 2.0 will not alleviate the problem!

In  your  Bios  settings  somewhere  there  might  be  a  section  (probably  under  advanced  / security ) that  says  Intel   PTT , enable  that  and  secure  boot,   then  try  Get.tpm  again.

I have not the TPM header :

P.S.  I have the Header of TPM but I have NOT the chip (US $ 50.00) :

I guess my PC isn't capable of Windows 11 since it doesn't have TPM.

I ran the TPM.MSC and says TPM 1.2 or later cannot be found.

I checked in the BIOS and don't see any settings (that I can find) for TPM or Secure Boot like others in here have found.

The only setting I found was "PCI ROM Priority" which has 2 options: Legacy ROM and EFI Compatible ROM. I was set to Legacy ROM, so I changed it to EFI Compatible and rebooted, but the system wouldn't POST and couldn't get back into the BIOS without pressing the Clear CMOS button on the back on the system.

My system specs are:

Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware, that CPU won't support Intel PTT :(

Intel PTT is basically the firmware alternative to the hardware-based TPM. Intel PTT works on pretty much every processor/chipset since 4th Gen Core (Haswell) processors were introduced and it even supports BitLocker. This is because Intel PTT supports all Microsoft requirements for firmware Trusted Platform Module (fTPM) 2.0.

So  even  if  I  converted my  Win 10 SSD  from  MBR  to  GPT  using  the  Microsoft command  line, then change  the  BIOS  setting  from  Legacy to  EFI  Compatible, and  the  BIOS  boot  drive  from  AHCI  to  UEFI, I  still  won't  have  Win  11 support  since  my  CPU  is  Gen  3  i7-3770K and  there  is  no  setting  for  PTT.
